Artist's Description
This beautiful log cabin, now located near Kansas City, was once a huge barn on property in southern Missouri. Our friends had it disassembled, each log marked then moved to their wooded lot in north west Missouri where they reassembled it, added to it, and created a most outstanding dwelling, preserved for many years to come. We visited there around the 4th of July holiday last year, the flags and bunting showing their patriotic love of our America. It is an amazing home, hard to believe it was once a skeleton of a farmer's barn, with only the massive logs giving it form and recognition of former use.
About Monte Toon
In 1969, Monte Toon began his career as a watercolorist. He credits the late Charles Sanderson of Wichita, Kansas, with setting him on his life-long path of watercolor painting. Sanderson inspired new approaches and techniques. Later, the works of Winslow Homer, Andrew Wyeth and Edward Hopper would influence Toon's work. More than 54 years experience has defined Toon's style in his exclusive use of watercolor. In 1991, a turning point occurred in Toon's work. Travels in Canada, New England and the east coast broadened his range of subject matter.
