Description
Everett Hall, my wife's grandfather sits in the warmth of the mid-day sun. Lunch has been served, the napkin on his lap awaits the promise of a tasty dessert soon to be brought to this living room.
In 1969, Mr. Hall was quoted in an article by Bill Matteson. "Folks are just living too fast," His solution to all the problems? "Get out and walk in the field behind a team of good horses and everything gets in its right place." He said he would much rather walk behind a team of good horses than ride a tractor. "I've had horses all my life," he says, "Tractor? Heck, a horse will stop when you say 'whoa' but a tractor just keeps on going."
Mr. Hall served in World War 1 and spent his life as an American Farmer.
I took this reference photo sometime in the mid to late 1980's. A perfect photo of a fine gentleman, typical of the ones we owe so much for their contribution to our wonderful United States. It wasn't until recently I felt I could do the painting justice. I remember this moment so vividly, fortunately I was able to capture such a compelling pose.
